Northwest Chapter Members Attend FrogWatch Class

Several Northwest Arkansas Master Naturalists attended a FrogWatch USA class held July 16, 2017 at Hobbs State Park.  Class instructors were Arkansas Master Naturalist Lilia Beattie and Sim Barrow with the Northwest Arkansas Land Trust.

In the class, students learned to identify local frog and toad species by their calls and how to report their findings accurately — important since the environmentally sensitive frogs and toads are significant indicators of ecosystem conditions and environmental health.  Students could optionally take an exam, and upon passing become certified FrogWatch volunteers, very much encouraged by our instructors.

For those who are interested, the class will be offered again in the future.
