CAMN* Work Day at Audubon

January 30 @ 8:30 am - 12:00 pm

The oak savannah we are carving out of an Arkansas jungle behind the Audubon center is coming to fruition.  Looking at it now you wouldn’t believe how far we have come.  We still have a couple of areas where we need to clear some saplings, and we need to establish a fire line so they can conduct a prescribed burn that will help get the native grasses ahead of the invasives.  If you are new to this project, Audubon is located at 4500 Springer Blvd., Little Rock, AR 72206 (501-244-2229, ar.audubon.org).

Soooo, we would like to have three all-out workdays—Jan 30, Feb 6, and Feb 13.  On those days we could use all of the chain sawyers, loppers, and brush draggers we can get.  Please get out and help in any way you can—serve lemonade/hot cocoa to the sweaty people if that is what you want to do.  We can form up at about 0830 and work until noon or even a little later if the weather and our bodies are cooperating.  As a sweetener, I’ve negotiated with Audubon to get free parking for everyone!

Thanks,

Bert Turner
