The spirit volunteerism was on full display during the August 2nd withering heat when 31 Rolling Hills Zoo Teens, 3 R.H. Zoo staff, 5 Central Arkansas Master Naturalists and other volunteers assembled to pick up litter from Benny Craig Park in areas where Audubon and Master Naturalists have been working to clear out invasive plants. Twenty-seven bags of trash, five tires, and miscellaneous bulk items were lifted from the creek and its shore. The kids came all the way from Salina, KS to help out on Fourche.
Working beside youth groups whose intent is to make a positive impact on the the environment is important to Master Naturalists. The exchange of energy and enthusiasm is beneficial all around. The Benny Craig Park minus the gobs of privet, trash and debris is a remarkable contribution to the community.
